How it works!
As a FairNetTrader, you will not have to deal with hidden identities. Searching for a service provider or dealing with a client will be as easy and open as if you were dealing with a person you meet for the first time, but who is living and working across the road.
Let's go and see what we find and what we do when the door opens:
Service providers
Our service providers are all SoHo entrepreneurs (Small Office/Home Office Workers). They register with us by writing a motivation letter and promising to respect our fair trade rules: fair rates, quality, timeliness, customer service.
The service provider uploads a full profile with his/her qualifications, expertise and past experience and contact information. Once our jury has approved an application, the profile is released to be consulted by prospective clients. When a FairNetTrader is contacted by a client through the site, he/she will be able to click on the client's profile and see the details as long as the contact lasts or while work is in progress. If the client decides to engage another FairNetTrader, the client's profile will disappear.
The service provider does not need to pay for this service as long as he has not found any work through our site. His affiliation fee of USD/EUR 100 per year is due only after successful completion and payment of his first job.

Don't buy a pig in a poke!
More and more, people acquire goods and services through the Internet, paying with their credit cards and sometimes acquiring a pig in a poke. FairTradeNet deals with quality services and strives to satisfy both, customers and service providers. That is why we have established the
”hold in trust” payment system.
A client's payment will not be released until the client is fully satisfied. A service provider will fulfill his obligation happily, knowing that he will get paid. Clients and service providers have accounts at FairTradeNet. Amounts retained can be used for future jobs or will be reimbursed at the client's request. Service providers may choose to be paid immediately or accumulate small sums to reduce transfer charges. This payment system is available for first-time clients and those wishing to use it regularly.

Clients
Once clients have paid their affiliation fees, they gain unlimited access to all profiles. If they want to try out our services first, they can do so by paying a symbolic fee of USD/EUR 10.00 to consult all profiles for a week.
Affiliated Clients pay a yearly fee of USD/EUR 100.00. This enables them to consult all the profiles, anytime. They can get all the contact information immediately: names, phone numbers, e-mail, etc. A client may contact a FairNetTrader outside the FTN channel, but we trust both business partners to deal with each other through FairTradeNet. Remember, we do not take any commission. The only reason to deal with each other outside our site would be an arrangement not to respect our conditions. Clients and freelancers who undertake to deliberately circumvent FairTradeNet will probably end up being cheated. The client may not get the quality he strives for, the service provider may wait for his payment forever.
Client and Service provider
The client has a job to outsource. He consults the profiles of FairNetTraders with the expertise he is looking for. He contacts one or several of them directly and after discussing the details, chooses one of them. Or he puts up a posting, asks for bids and then decides which offer suits him best. The next steps are:
- The client sends a purchase order to the service provider.
- Client and provider agree on the mode of payment.
- If client and provider agree on the "held in trust" system, the client will pay the agreed fee into the FTN trust account.
- The service provider is informed that the payment has arrived and is held in trust.
- The provider delivers the promised service on time and remains accessible to the client to make improvements if the client is not totally satisfied.
- Once the client is happy with the service provided, he releases the amount held in trust and the service provider gets paid.
- A happy client may write a few words of appreciation to the service provider, but there is no obligation to do so.
- Clients working regularly through FairTradeNet and/or with the same service provider may make arrangements for payment outside FTN if both parties agree, at their own risk.
- Clients and freelancers working outside the "hold in trust" payment system will not be able to profit from FairTradeNet's dispute settlement services. It is to the advantage of both business partners to use this service when the partners do not yet know each other well and the element of trust is still missing.
Client and service provider are able to follow the whole process from their private work space.
