A brief guide to becoming a FairNetTrader Please copy these guidelines and print them out before continuing. Before registering, get acquainted with our philosophy by browsing our Website. Please read our Code of Ethics on our Website and determine whether you are prepared to adhere to it. If you are or become an FTN affiliate, you will be asked to confirm your acceptance shortly. To fill out or modify your profile, please log in at www.fairtradenet.org with your e-mail and a password of your own choosing (please keep it safe for future reference). INTRODUCTION (Motivation, first paragraph): Make it attractive. Including an original motto might be a good idea. This is the first thing your potential clients will see, what they will remember most. Here’s the code to get a nice title and your introduction written in blue: If you add this code, you will get a big title in font 5 and all your text will be in blue. This is for people who don’t have an HTML editor. If you have one, you can play around a bit more. PICTURE (Image): Upload a personal picture or a professional logo only (not bigger than 200X200 pixels). LANGUAGES (Professional): The languages you speak. In the case of regional variations within such languages (e.g., UK English, US English, NZ English), please indicate only the branch of the language you use. SKILLS: If you are a translator, the language(s) to and from which you translate. Localization: By localizing, we mean adapting texts to the variant of the language you are fully and permanently immersed into. This is normally the place where you were born or where you have lived long enough. To get verified, upload two samples of previous work per language pair, 500 source words each, in a two-column table format (left for the source, right for the target), including your name. No code from CAT tools, no Alt Tags either, please. These samples should reflect your best production, ready for delivery. Upload your samples to the Skills section. After you choose each language pair, click on "Verify", and you will be given the uploading option. A jury will assess your samples and notify you as soon as a decision is taken. QUALITY ASSURANCE PARTNERS (My Partnerships): Choose from people sharing your language pairs. Make their acquaintance. These will be the people who will proofread your work when you get a job through FTN.PROJECTS DONE (Experience): For the sake of consistency, no client names, please. BUSINESS (Categories): If you are a translator, limit yourself to language categories please, unless you are also a provider of services in other fields, such as consultancy, writing, technology, etc. PRICING INFO (Rates): If you are a translator, the agreed minimum is EUR 0.15 per source word. You can charge more, of course, but not less. You must mention "(professional proofreading included)". The established rate for proofreading is EUR 0.03. This may vary, however, if the proofreader is faced with an unexpectedly bad translation. Minimum rates for other categories have not been established yet.
